This is part 2 of the same area from my previous post, where I suggested these clients carve out some space for themselves around the patio and leave the rest of the yard for the kids to play and not worry about planting it until the kids are older (check it out if you haven’t already seen it). Annuals bloom all season and if you’re not trying to cover a large area, I think they can really be well worth the investment of time and money. You can also grow them from seed if you’re on a tight budget. Unlike perennials though, they don’t come back the next year. If you’re looking for an idea for a sunny area my all-time favorite is persian shield, shown here with my coral bark maple😍. It’s got an amazing purple color that goes beautifully with yellow in particular. Anyone have any favorites for Sun or shade to share (please specify)? If you’re new here, I’m a garden coach and consultant based in the Boston area (zone 6b). I don’t have time to answer all the questions that come in and I don’t have all the answers anyway so please help others if you have information to share!
