Hosea Trevor Tuolo Charles, 26, an Australian national playing in Division 1 of Japan's Rugby League One for the Mie Honda Heat, was arrested on suspicion of causing bodily injury. According to police, Charles is suspected of causing minor injuries to his wife at their Suzuka City home just after 4:00 p.m. on May 25 by grabbing her arms, pushing her down, straddling her, and grabbing her neck and chest.The incident came to light around 2:00 a.m. on May 28 when Charles's wife contacted the police, reporting that she had been assaulted by her husband. Charles has partially denied the allegations, stating, "I grabbed my wife by the collar and pushed her onto the bed, but I did not straddle her." Police are conducting an investigation through an interpreter to determine his motive and whether there was a history of ongoing abuse.
