🚀 Team Bravo Prototype Testing in Progress! Today’s testing focused on sign recognition using OpenCV and OCR as part of our prototype for a visually impaired LiDAR obstacle avoidance and feedback system. The system is being designed to support users by combining: 👁️ Camera + OpenCV to detect signs and visual information 🔤 OCR to recognise text from signs 🔊 Vocal feedback to read out detected words 📡 D6 LiDAR to detect obstacles around the user ⚠️ Audio feedback to alert users about obstacles in front, left, right or nearby This is part of our ongoing prototyping process to explore how technology can support safer navigation for the visually impaired. The sign recognition is showing promise, but more testing is still needed to improve accuracy, especially under different lighting conditions, distances, angles and font sizes. We will also continue working on the tactile haptic feedback system, so users can receive both voice alerts and touch-based vibration feedback when obstacles are detected. Every test helps us improve the system step by step. 💡 #TeamBravo #AssistiveTechnology #VisualImpairmentSupport #LiDARObstacleAvoidance #RaspberryPi
