Roll Study 🥁 This Roll Study takes a basic eighth-note pattern and runs it through the core subdivisions using single strokes, closed double strokes, and paradiddle sticking variations. The rhythm stays familiar while the subdivision and sticking underneath it continue to change. It’s a great way to work on timing, hand control, subdivision awareness, and smooth transitions without losing sight of the musical phrase. Keeping the same rhythmic framework also lets you really hear how each sticking changes the texture and feel.
