Alieu Saine opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a stunning left-footed volley after Sanna Saidykhan picked out his run with a lofted pass. Liberia had a golden opportunity to level before half-time when they were awarded a penalty in the 42nd minute. Lawrence Toe stepped up, but his effort struck the woodwork, allowing the Scorplings to maintain their lead at the break. Omar Badjie doubled The Gambia’s advantage in the 67th minute. Captain Omar Marong played a clever pass to Badjie, who dazzled his way between the Liberian defenders before firing into the roof of the net. Lamin Kamara pulled one back for Liberia in the 85th minute, setting up a tense finish. The Scorplings held firm to secure a 2–1 victory and book their place in the final.
