Remember, the algorithm feeds you extremes, so while it might seem ‘normal’ to have massive, catered birthday parties, most of us are just doing simple things! For my sons first birthday we went really big, and while it was a memorable day, it wasn’t because of the ‘stuff’. I do look back with a little regret as we definitely overspent. I realise now with a bit of hindsight that you can have a lovely birthday party without spending heaps and heaps of money. At the end of the day, it’s about the time spent together with family. And, spending more doesn’t = loving your kids more, and never should. We all love our kids heaps and want the best for them.
