Progress is usually quiet until you put two photos side by side. For John and I, it didn’t happen because of a detox, “challenge” or crash diet. Progress happened from making and keeping small changes to daily routines. Consistency is key! So what did we do? Tracked macros consistently to stay in a slight calorie deficit every day (protein stayed the priority, carbs supported training, fats stayed in check). Trained almost daily with a goal-oriented routine (strength + HIIT + running). Focused on progressive overload strength training and showed up even when motivation was low or nonexistent. Set training goals and tailored them to excel in performance instead of exercising to “look good.” It wasn’t perfect. It still isn’t perfect. We still travel, eat out and enjoy our lives.
