Overthinking isn’t a knowledge problem. It’s a feeling problem. Riders go into their head when they don’t want to feel: – getting it wrong – not knowing – the loss of control – the vulnerability of learning But horses don’t live in thought. They live in feel, timing, and clarity. So the moment you leave your body and start thinking through steps… your horse feels you disappear. And what riders call “my horse isn’t listening” is often a horse saying, “come back to feel.” The riders who look the quietest aren’t the most educated. They’re the most willing to stay in their body and feel what’s happening — even when it’s uncomfortable. That’s where timing is. That’s where leadership is. That’s where the ride changes.
