Nairobi County has approved the implementation framework for Phase I of the Nairobi Metropolitan Mass Rapid Transit System (NMRTS), paving the way for the city's first underground rail section. The project will include an underground rail core beneath the Central Business District (CBD), linked to a rail line serving Eastlands. Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja said the project will ease traffic congestion, reduce travel times, and create thousands of jobs. The cost and construction timeline for the project are yet to be announced. However, the county government will collaborate with the national government on its implementation. Phase II will extend the network to Westlands, Ngong Road, and Lang'ata before integrating with Nairobi's Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. #money54 #fyp #trending #railway #infrastructure
