It's not the differences between you causing problems. It's constantly trying to make those differences go away that causes so many problems. That's what I'll often say to couples when we start working together. Two people deciding to build a world together comes with challenges. You're going to see things differently, value things differently, approach things differently, desire different things, and have different sensitivities. Some differences will never get resolved. Nor would you want them to. After all, you don't choose your partner because they're exactly like you, but because they're different from you. Yet so many couples create conflict by trying to force the other person to be more like themselves - to see things, value things, approach things, desire things, the same way … and be sensitive in the same way, too. Never works. Resolving conflict is less about making differences go away (ending tension) and more about simply showing your partner that you care about them and value their experience. Imagine a relationship where both you and your partner feel genuinely free to think, do, be however you choose to think, do, be, and yet you BOTH still feel deeply seen and cared for! 🔥 MEN- Comment or DM me the word "RETREAT" and I'll send you details of my upcoming "Elevate in Epic Costa Rica" Retreat. #boundaries #relationshipgoals #relationships #lovequotes #communication
