Function ≠ Topography 👏🧠 Just because two behaviors look the same does not mean they serve the same function. In ABA, topography is what the behavior looks or sounds like. Function is why the behavior is happening — what the person is trying to get or avoid. Example: Two people may both yell: * one may yell to get attention * another may yell to escape a task That’s why we can’t assume the function based only on what we see. We have to look at the antecedent and the consequence. ✨ Quick reminder: Ask yourself: * What happened before the behavior? * What happened after the behavior? * Did the behavior help the person get something or avoid something? This is a big concept for both RBT and BCBA exam prep, and it also matters a lot in real practice. 📌 Save this post so you can come back to it when you study. What other ABA concept do you want broken down next? 👇 #ABA #RBTExamPrep #bcbaexamprep #BehaviorAnalysis #fyp
