Every civilization has a primary organizing framework that shapes its law, ethics, education, politics, and religion. Colonization didn’t just seize land. It often elevated one civilization’s conceptual framework while marginalizing or suppressing others. Why should we automatically prioritize categories inherited through frameworks historically associated with colonial expansion over the categories our own ancestors developed to organize reality?
