CNS WORK Basically we are using variability to change the processing and movement control of the CNS. Here we have light contact and heavy (power) contact scissor bounds performed in an alternating way. This is complex for the CNS as it has to try to regulate the contacts - each of which requires different control. This means that the feed forward and feedback mechanisms of the CNS will be really tested. It’s through the variability that the adaptation takes place. Of course this does not happen with just one drill - it requires a phased integration of different CNS intensities. I’d say that it’s the one key adjustment to my training philosophy over the last year plus which has led to some starling performances ie specific CNS training. Once you understand that you train the CNS as your starting point it becomes much clearer in terms of anchoring your coaching philosophy. #coach #track #longjump #CNS #athlete
