Carrying a buoyant object underwater increases my overall positive buoyancy, making it much harder to descend or stay down. The trapped air inside the object creates upward force, which I have to constantly fight against while swimming. As pressure increases with depth, you can see the object visibly compress as the air inside it shrinks. This same principle applies to the air in our lungs, which also compress under pressure. That compression changes buoyancy and is one of the key factors freedivers manage as they descend. #scienceexperiments #science #diver #ocean #swimmer
