A “living wage” is presented as a solution while what it actually represents, a subsistence wage as described by Marx, is the bare minimum capitalists can pay you while keeping your mental and physical health just good enough that you can show up to work the next day. What a dignified “solution” presented by liberals! Sure, you get to enjoy the cornucopia of consumer trash marketed to you and if you’re one of the more privilege wage workers you might even get a vacation but this doesn’t change the fact these paltry recompenses do not match the value your produce nor the 50 years of wageslavery at 40 hours a week minimum it entails.
