Recognizing emotional immaturity in everyone else doesn’t mean you’re practicing emotional maturity yourself. Emotional immaturity is a pattern of struggling to handle your feelings, consider perspectives beyond your own, and take responsibility for how you behave. Crying isn’t automatically immature. Neither is getting angry, needing a break, or having a personality you don’t like. Look at repeated behavior, context, and whether someone takes responsibility and makes changes. Healthy relationships come with inconvenience, disagreement, and imperfect people—including us. Accepting that does NOT mean tolerating manipulation, control, or abuse. You can understand someone’s feelings without obeying their demands or abandoning yourself. Before labeling someone, ask: • What actually happened, and what am I assuming? • Am I protecting my boundaries or trying to control their choices? • Am I willing to examine my behavior, too? Someone else’s harmful behavior doesn’t give us a free pass to be cruel. And taking responsibility for our own behavior doesn’t mean accepting blame for theirs. We can hold people accountable and still hold up a mirror to ourselves. 💜 Love, Hope with Holly #EmotionalMaturity #SelfAwareness #HealthyRelationships #Boundaries #relationships
