Happy World Cerebral Palsy Day! 💚♿️ Today, October 6th, is a day to recognize the more than 50 million people around the world living with cerebral palsy. CP is a neurological condition caused by abnormal development or damage to the developing brain, and it can affect movement, posture, balance, communication, and many other parts of everyday life. But CP does NOT define the person. Every person with CP has their own abilities, challenges, personality, dreams, goals, and story. (World Cerebral Palsy Day) World CP Day isn’t just about raising awareness. It’s about creating change. We need to make the world more accessible and more inclusive for people with disabilities. That means accessible buildings, transportation, education, technology, healthcare, entertainment, workplaces, and communities. It means listening to disabled people instead of assuming we know what is best for them. And sometimes inclusion is as simple as treating someone with a disability like a person first. Don’t stare. Don’t make assumptions. Don’t talk to someone like they’re a child. Don’t automatically assume someone needs help. Ask, listen, and respect their answer. A wheelchair isn’t something that makes someone less capable. A communication device doesn’t make someone’s thoughts less important. A disability doesn’t erase someone’s dreams or potential. I want to see a world where disabled people aren’t constantly having to prove that they belong. We belong in classrooms. We belong in workplaces. We belong at concerts. We belong in businesses. We belong in communities. We belong everywhere. So today, I’m celebrating everyone in the cerebral palsy community and everyone with a disability who keeps pushing forward, chasing their dreams, and making their voice heard. My change is simple: I want people to stop seeing disability as a limitation and start seeing the person, their abilities, their ideas, and their potential. We are unique. We are united. And we deserve to be included. Happy World CP Day! 💚♿️ #WorldCPDay #UniqueANDUnited #CerebralPalsy #DisabilityAwareness #DisabilityInclusion
