Matthew Donahoe of Pictou, Nova Scotia, faces several charges following allegations that a student was assaulted by a teacher at Dr. W.A. MacLeod Consolidated School in Riverton. Pictou County District RCMP first received a complaint on September 10, 2026. As the investigation progressed, officers discovered other alleged victims who reported similar incidents during the 2026–2027 school year. Donohoe was arrested on September 23 and charged with four counts of assault, two counts of assault by choking, assault with a weapon, sexual assault, sexual interference and administering a noxious substance. After the original complaint, the Chignecto Central Regional Centre for Education barred him from accessing the school and its students.
