Sahan Alam of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was arrested and charged with kidnapping a 15-year-old youth. Hasan Al-Mamun of Sudbury was also arrested and charged as his co-accused. On September 19, 2026, Alam and Al-Mamun allegedly picked up the teenager and refused to let the youth leave their vehicle. While reportedly driving the victim to a hotel, they made a wrong turn and entered the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge toward the United States border. When the vehicle attempted to turn around and re-enter Canada, Canada Border Services Agency officers intercepted it. After noticing the teenager and suspecting a kidnapping, the officers contacted local police, who arrived and arrested both men. Police said neither accused was well known to the victim, but the alleged abduction did not appear to be random. Alam and co-accused Al-Mamun remain in custody pending a bail hearing.
