𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬, 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫. 💦 Newfoundlanders are working dogs by nature, so I absolutely love trying different sports and activities with the boys. 🐾 Since I currently can’t get into the water myself, I was looking for an activity where the boys could still enjoy swimming. And I found it! Novi is now doing AquaHoopers, and he absolutely loves it! 🥰 It’s been an adjustment for both of us because this is a completely different way of working together. Normally, I would be in the water with him, even if I was working with him from a distance. Water rescue also involves very different exercises. It’s more about learning to make the right decisions at a distance, as well as a lot of retrieving and bringing items. Now, I’m completely on dry land. And that changes everything. Because I’m at a greater distance from him, guiding him through the course requires a different kind of communication. It’s perhaps best described as a combination of water work and obedience, but above all, it is built on trust in each other. One thing I know for sure: we both really enjoy this activity.
