Anybody who’s been close to the group knows we’ve basically been training all year for our big Mt. Shasta Clear Creek summit, which was supposed to happen this past Tuesday But just like Split Mountain and now our planned Rim to Rim hike next month Mother Nature and outside forces had other plans. Things don’t always go as planned, and that’s okay. We’ll still find a way to go out and bag something crazy and go with the punches. Instead of Shasta, we headed to Lake Tahoe and took on the absolutely this absolutely insane Tahoe Six Peak Traverse. Over 21 miles loop with 7,500+ ft of elevation gain, starting and ending at Glen Alpine Trailhead. A huge portion of the route took us through the backcountry of Desolation Wilderness, with plenty of off-trail travel and Class 2/Class 3 scrambling along the way. Six peaks in one massive loop: ⛰️ Echo Peak — 8,895 ft ⛰️ Keith’s Dome — 8,649 ft ⛰️ Cracked Crag — 8,781 ft ⛰️ Jacks Peak — 9,858 ft ⛰️ Dicks Peak — 9,975 ft ⛰️ Mount Tallac — 9,735 ft My biggest highlights were the mesmerizing views of Lake Aloha and the Jacks Peak → Dicks Peak ridge traverse. If I ever did this route again, I’d honestly come back just for that ridge. Easily one of the coolest sections of the whole hike. Without a doubt, this ranks up there with some of the hardest challenges our crew has completed yet. Huge shoutout to the squaaad for getting this one DONE because this was definitely no cakewalk. Everybody who showed up and showed out should pat themselves on the back because this is nothing less than savage. There’s a lot of heart, grit, and straight-up craziness in this crew, and that’s exactly why I love doing this shit with each and every one you all. And a huge thank you to @Nick Muir for letting us stay at his family’s cabin. Love you, man. Happy as hell to call this dude my best friend.
