𝗝𝗔𝗠𝗕 𝗦𝗘𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳 𝗨𝗧𝗠𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 JAMB is set to introduce Facial Biometric Verification (FBV) into the UTME, a move designed to curb impersonation, reduce examination malpractice, and strengthen the integrity of the admissions process. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 JAMB will partner with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to verify candidates through a dedicated app. Using standard cameras already built into smartphones and computers, the system confirms a candidate's identity in under a second, with no physical contact required. Fingerprint verification will still be retained for now, but is expected to be phased out over the next two to three years as facial verification takes over. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 Unlike fingerprint scanners, which can fail due to worn, wet, or dirty fingers, facial verification offers a faster and more reliable way to confirm identity. It is also expected to reduce system failures, minimise candidate rescheduling, and support a safer, touchless examination environment.
