The Gooch Close Gang and the Doddington Gang were two violent, rival street gangs in Moss Side, Manchester, that fought a decades long turf war over the drug trade in the 1990s and 2000s. The Gooch: 🔵 Based around Gooch Close on the west side of the Alexandra Park estate. They were linked to the color blue, mirroring Los Angeles Crips. Doddington: 🔴 Originating from the Pepperhill pub on the east side of the estate before moving to Dodington Close. They were linked to the color red, mirroring Bloods. Police Crackdown: 👮♂️ Major police operations, such as Operation Xcalibre, eventually dismantled the leadership of these groups, leading to significant prison sentences in the late 2000s. Ucal Chin was a 24-year-old man shot and killed in a June 2007 drive-by attack on Anson Road in Manchester, an event tied to local gang conflicts. His murder and the subsequent shooting of mourner Tyrone Gilbert at his wake led to a major police crackdown and life sentences for leaders of the Gooch Gang.
