Over the weekend, Dr. Letitia Plummer and Leticia Gutierrez were asked a question that should be at the center of every conversation about public safety in our region: How will you keep our communities safe after ICE killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston’s East End? The question came from Lorenzo’s son, Ronaldo Salgado, who has turned the pain of losing his father into purpose—speaking up, speaking out, and advocating for immigrant families now afraid throughout our city. Both made their commitments clear: if elected—Letitia Plummer as Harris County Judge and Leticia Gutierrez to Congress—they will fight to keep ICE from terrorizing our communities while working to build a healthier, more accountable relationship between local law enforcement and the people they are supposed to serve. Public safety has to mean safety for ALL of us. And no family should have to lose someone they love before their government decides their community is worth protecting. #texas #houston #immigrant #immigration #fuckice
