Africans defended and resisted alongside the people who became Black American ancestors. The transatlantic slave trade wasn’t simply “Africans versus Europeans” or “Africans selling Africans.” Across Africa, different communities faced slave raids, kidnapping and human trafficking—and Africans resisted those systems and the people carrying them out. Our ancestors were among the victims of that trade, not representatives of everyone who held power on the continent. That’s why African resistance to the slave trade is part of Black American history too. #AfricanResistance #BlackAmericanHistory #TransatlanticSlaveTrade #AuthenticBlackAmerican #GlobalBlackUnity
