Patients in teaching hospitals are some of the most patient people. They get woken up at all hours of the day and night and examined and questioned over and over again, sometimes because of the unnecessary medical tradition of doctors at each level of training being told they have to do it. There should be better rules in place to make life easier for patients in the hospital. “Pre-rounding” by students can sometimes serve only to save upper level doctors time in filling out forms. It can be so stupid and unnecessary. . So to all of you who have been a patient at a teaching hospital and had to endure all these wake ups and exams from multiple docs : THANK YOU!
