Foster Farms says these chickens are "American Humane Certified." From June to July 2024, an Animal Outlook investigator went undercover on a Foster Farms catch crew in California. The footage shows forklifts running over live chickens, with some drivers reversing to and crushing them a second time. Birds thrown, kicked, and grabbed by the wing. Chickens trapped by the head in cage doors. A pile of dead birds left to rot in up to 100 degree heat. Foster Farms is the largest poultry processor in California and reported $3 billion in revenue last year. It supplies Walmart, Kroger, Target, and Albertsons. This is not a few bad workers. It is a business built on volume, and the animals and the people on the line both pay for it. Animal Outlook has taken the footage to the Fresno County District Attorney and is requesting criminal cruelty charges, including against Foster Farms as a corporation.
