I'm a leaver. I don't stay where I feel unwanted. Tolerated. Disrespected. Misunderstood. Or where I have to negotiate for basic decency. I used to think loyalty meant enduring. Now I know loyalty also means not abandoning myself. I'll communicate. I'll give grace. I'll try to understand. But I won't keep knocking on a door that's committed to staying closed. Some people mistake my ability to leave for a lack of love. It's actually the opposite. I can love you with my whole heart... And still leave you the da fuq alone forever if staying requires me to betray myself. Because love without respect becomes resentment. Love without reciprocity becomes depletion. Love without peace becomes survival. I'm no longer interested in surviving relationships. I'm interested in building ones where nobody has to beg to be valued. If my absence brings you peace, I'll make it permanent. If my presence isn't appreciated, my absence will be. And I won't leave angry.
