#MovieReview #IWantYourSex 🍿🍿 (Out of 5) Good Lead Performances, But Low In Content And Believable Reactions This over-the-top film was directed by Gregg Araki and written by Karley Sciortino and Araki as well, the film is sharp and clean to look at but the characters are not real people. All over-indulging themselves to negate the reality/believability for me. What’s it about? ‘I Want Your Sex’ seemingly follows a naive assistant Elliot (Cooper Hoffman) who lands his dream job working for a renowned, provocative, exotic, erotic and weird artist Erika Tracy (Olivia Wilde) – in a weirdly chaotic mix of sex, power and even murder (wink, wink - not). The pace is all over the place. Trying hard to be funny but instead being more precocious than witty. Olivia Wilde is brilliant and over-the-top fun (if not believable), Cooper Hoffman is passionately trying his best to fit in a place where he shouldn’t even be thinking of being there/at and missing the mark every time – committed but bizarre. Other cast members included Mason Gooding, Chase Sui Wonders, Johnny Knoxville, Margaret Cho, Roxane Mesquida, Charli XCX and Daveed Diggs who were clearly taking it too seriously and losing the tongue’n’cheek for me. The cinematography by Tucker Korte is good and the editing by Araki and Victor de la Parra gave the film an energetic pace overall and even the music by James Clements added to the chaos. I gave two popcorns as a rating for Olivia and Cooper. I can tell they were having fun – just two of the same fish out of water – but in the wrong fishbowl. The movie is slightly not funny for the most part and more than a little ridiculous in the story. Wait for streaming or Blue-Ray on this one.
