Up to 1 in 3 autistic women may experience PMDD. That’s several times higher than the estimated 3–8% prevalence in the general population. Yet most people have never even heard of it. PMDD is not “just PMS.” For me it can feel like becoming a completely different person for 2-3 weeks every month. Common symptoms: 💥 Intense mood swings 😢 Depression or hopelessness 😰 Anxiety or panic attacks 😡 Irritability or rage 😴 Extreme fatigue 🧠 Brain fog But I also get a lot of commonly overlooked symptoms: ⚡ Increased sensory overload 🫥 Autistic burnout that suddenly worsens 🚫 Executive function falling apart 💬 Loss of speech or increased shutdowns/meltdowns 😖 Rejection sensitivity becoming overwhelming 🤝 Masking becoming almost impossible 💔 Feeling like you’re “losing yourself” every month Then… your period starts, and within days it’s like someone flipped a switch. If this happens to you every cycle, it isn’t something you should have to “just cope with.” 💛 Save this. 📤 Share it with someone who needs to hear this. ⬇️ Did you know PMDD is more common in autistic and ADHD women? #PMDD #PMDDAwareness #ADHDWomen #AutisticWomen #AuDHD
