So this was a fascinating case I’ve been working on for the last year. Severe and/or poorly controlled hypertension is associated with impaired semen+ quality (reduced volume, concentration, motility). He had all of these on his semen+ analysis. Plus, he had extreme abnormal morphology, but that’s ordinarily not related to BP. He did NO drugs or any substances whatsoever. With completely normalizing the BP (with meds) AND instituting lifestyle behaviors (he dropped 5% excess body weight so far), 3rd semen+ analysis now completely normal. NORMAL. Now, I must point out that human data about this relationship is only observational. But in this case study, I suspect his severe hypertensive disease specifically was the culprit of his profound semen+ abnormalities. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
