Emotional maturity looks like being able to hold onto yourself without needing to "win". It means knowing what you feel, what you want, and what you need—and communicating those things clearly and assertively—while also remaining curious about your partner’s experience. Healthy relationships require both: a strong sense of self and a genuine willingness to listen. When winning, proving your point, or being right becomes more important than understanding each other, intimacy suffers. Maturity is being able to say, “This is what I believe and what matters to me, and I also care about what this is like for you.” You don’t have to lose yourself to choose the relationship. You learn to hold both. #emotionalmaturity #mentalhealth #therapy #drrscottgornto
