Today I placed an implant back in for one of my patients after a temporary setback in her breast reconstruction journey. Following her mastectomy, she experienced a complication that required us to remove the implant to allow everything to heal properly. Now that the tissue is healthy, soft, and ready, it's time to safely replace the implant and restore her reconstruction. Every case is different, but sometimes the best surgical decision is to pause, let the body heal, and then move forward when the timing is right. During surgery, I also take every precaution to reduce the risk of infection, including specialized antibiotic irrigation and carefully selected antibiotics when needed. Breast reconstruction isn't always a straight path, but with patience and the right timing, we can achieve a beautiful outcome. #BreastReconstruction #ImplantReconstruction #PlasticSurgery #BreastSurgery #MastectomyRecovery
