🚨 Don’t Ignore Redundant Gas Pipes! 🚨 Just because an old gas pipe is no longer in use doesn’t mean it’s electrically safe. If a redundant metal gas pipe still enters the building or is connected to other metalwork, it may still introduce an electrical potential. Without the correct protective bonding, an electrical fault could create dangerous touch voltages. Protective equipotential bonding helps keep metalwork at the same potential, reducing the risk of electric shock and keeping installations compliant with BS 7671. ⚡ Every installation should be assessed individually. If a redundant pipe is still an extraneous-conductive-part, it should be bonded. If it’s been completely isolated and no longer introduces earth potential, bonding may no longer be required.
