This is my 3rd year using this specific vevor hardware cloth (do not get from the local stores!) and it has been the best choice I've made for my gardening journey as a disabled farmer. You can either till and put the fabric over top or do a no till method and plant directly in the ground this way. You cut or burn holes in the fabric in the specific areas you want to plant.
