🤔 I think I did this problem backwards. After recording this video, I realized this is not how I would do this problem with students. With a student, I would first hand them the tiles and have them do the whole problem with just the tiles. Then we could go back, reflect on our process, and do it again with the numbers. If you have a student struggling with this process, I would definitely recommend having them try it with the tiles ONLY a few times.
