Replying to @saraaizaeliasdottir Bestie, first , I’m so proud of you. Tomorrow’s a big day, and it’s normal to be excited and terrified at the same time. Vomiting is one of the biggest fears, but let’s talk about how to get ahead of it. [Why Vomiting Happens After Bariatric Surgery] Anesthesia & pain meds can upset your stomach. Your pouch is tiny and still healing, even one sip too fast can cause nausea. Dehydration is a trigger. Food stages (like introducing purées too early or eating too fast) can overwhelm your pouch. GLP-1s like Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro can add to the nausea if you’re on them before or after surgery. [What Helps Prevent Vomiting] ✅ Ask for anti-nausea meds (Zofran, scopolamine patch, etc.) before and after surgery. Don’t be shy, this is your right. ✅ Take tiny sips 1 teaspoon at a time, and pause. ✅ Stay upright after sipping or eatingdon’t lie flat. ✅ Track your timing, space out liquids and meds so your pouch isn’t overwhelmed. ✅ Warm liquids like broth or tea are gentler than cold water right after surgery. ✅ Rest & breathe, stress makes nausea worse. You’ve got this, bestie 💛 Tomorrow is the first page of a brand-new chapter. Vomiting is a fear, but it’s not a forever thing. Take it slow, speak up, and remember, you are not alone. #BariatricSurgery #VSGSupport #GastricBypassJourney #BariatricHealing #glp1community
