Prior to an ayahuasca ceremony, it is customary in the Shipibo Tradition to offer plant baths made from various medicinal plants and flowers, which are infused in the water to create a medicinal bath for the individual seeking protection, cleansing, or healing. Various plants are used in the bath, each having its specific healing properties. The bath is typically taken before or after an Ayahuasca ceremony, to cleanse the body and prepare for the effects of the plant medicine. The medicinal properties of the plants will penetrate the skin, working in harmony with the physical, spiritual, and energetic bodies of the individual. The plant bath removes negative energy and blockages from the body and prepares the individual for a deeper connection with the plant spirits during a ceremony. Our shamans diligently prepare these cleansing baths with multiple plants grown around our Center and in the surrounding jungle and sing icaros (medicine songs) to them. Guests are invited to put their intention into the bath, asking the spirits of the plants to cleanse their energetic field and protect them as they enter the ceremony. This is a final opportunity before the ceremony to calm the mind and align the body and spirit. Come experience this firsthand at our Amazon Location.
