Can you believe the size of this old Russian emerald? My hand needed a serious break after this one! This is a crazy thing. If you don’t see it being held in a human hand, it’s hard to believe the size. This is an emerald from the ancient mines in the Ural Mountains of Russia. And this is where we got chrysoberyl or Alexandrite rather and the classic emeralds of the era of the tsars and of their jewelry. But this is huge. It weighs more than a couple of pounds. And you can see it’s even hard to just hold up at once for the video. They called this The Tsar apparently and it was in a private museum in Russia before being sold to a Chinese wealthy collector with whom I exchange.
