10 second observation timelapse. Focus = hatching, pen control This card is adapted from 'Framed Drawing Techniques' by Marcos Mateu-Mestre. This was a bit of a hatching practice again but from a Pinterest reference because I wanted something with a lot of flatter shapes and perspective. I wasn't too happy with it. When Mateu-Mestre hatches like this, he actually uses a ruler, and if I try and match it freehand it's very tough to prevent it turning woolly where the lines touch. Heaston, on the other hand, tends to keep his hatch lines further apart, which works better for me really, and then darkens with cross hatching. So I am trying to figure out the sweet spot between the two just for fun, but really I think Heaston is better to go with because it can be done freehand. If you have to draw 1000 perfect lines for a study, you can bet at least a few will not work out, so the Heaston way is more forgiving. This took 30 minutes, using a fineliner pen. #10000hrs #art #drawing #learning #shorts
