550. That’s a ⬆️ +50 from last year - an unexpected and difficult jump. Do I train for maxes all year round - no. It serves no purpose. Can I choose with careful consideration when I want to go for a max - absolutely. Today this was a true 1RM. My core could have been braced better, my upper back been tighter, and my hip flexors could have been fired up more. In the word of performance, there’s no need for maxes with resistance. Jumping, running, cutting, and power measurements are name of the game. ❓ Is there an end point in sight - sure. When I can make 500 look like a .8 rather than a .4 m/s. That’s when I know I’ve gotten there. How would I approach that? Become more athletic, ballistic, and have a stronger core. ➡️ Training with heavy weights and moving slowly will make you move slow. Get good at moving some things slowly, but emphasize performance over looks. Now excuse me for my epson salt bath, sauna session tomorrow, Chiro and cupping for NYE, and polar dip for Sunday 😪 #deadlift #hereitcomes #1rm #maxout #trapbar #legday #strength #legworkout #strengthandconditioning #sportsperformance #performancetraining #personaltraining #personaltrainer #epsonsalt #recovery #strengthtraining #strengthcoach #exercise #exercisescience #training #trainingmotivation #workoutmotivation #fitnessmotivation #fitness #trainer #lapersonaltrainer #losangelespersonaltrainer #latrainer
