💊 This is the medication side effect NO ONE warns you about! 💊 I survived DRESS Syndrome - a rare, life-threatening drug reaction to a medication most doctors have never seen and many misdiagnose. DRESS Syndrome stands for Drug Reaction with Eisinophilia and Systemic Symptoms. DRESS is a hypersensitivity adverse reaction often complicated by potentially deadly inflammation of internal organs and has a 10% mortality rate. I was prescribed Relafen in the NSAIDs drug class that damaged 60% of my skin, compromised my nervous system, liver, pancreas, thyroid, and heart, & elevated my white blood cell count to dangerous levels. I was dismissed at every ER visit for 17 days while desperately searching for answers, pain management control, and a diagnosis. I’m sharing my story to raise awareness and push for better medical education around serious drug reactions. Too many people - including medical providers - have never even heard of DRESS Syndrome. And it’s often misdiagnosed until it’s too late. Early recognition can mean the difference between survival, lifelong complications, or tragedy. If you’ve started a new medication and develop: ⚠️ Rash ⚠️ Facial swelling ⚠️ Fever ⚠️ Lymph node swelling ⚠️ Organ involvement 👉 Blame the drug. Get help. Ask if it could be DRESS. Speak up. Advocate for yourself. Don’t wait. If this post helps even one person get diagnosed sooner - it’s worth it. ❤️‍🩹 🦓 Follow @medicalzebra for chronic illness support, love, validation, and a community where you truly belong. 🦓 🚨 TLDR: Fever, rash, or facial swelling after a new med? 🚩 Don’t wait.
