Sometimes we think we need sзx when we really need intimacy. Truth 💣💥 Realizing we’ve been asking for one thing to get the other can sometimes feel 🤯 … but stay with me. For many of us, sex is the primary way to have access to intimacy and connection. There’s a lot of reasons that we don't feel OK being tender, vulnerable, and to want cuddles instead of s/x. For women (especially—but not exclusively—women in heterosexual relationships) s/x might be the only way they can get the intimacy they are craving and they might have sex that’s unsatisfying or disconnected in order to feel some closeness. Phew. It’s a lot to untangle. As I talked about yesterday, sex without connection doesn’t really work for most of us. Creating intimacy in service of s/x in an ongoing flow offers us a beautiful paradox that we’ll talk about today… Building intimate connection takes time, energy, and attention. And it’s ongoing. These FOUR INTIMACY PRACTICES can help you and your person feel more connected, more close, and maybe more open to playtime. 🙊 TALK & be TRUTHFUL: Have real conversations. If you find yourself stuck trying to create deeper, more meaningful conversations, try using some conversation card decks like @theskindeep or @estherperel’s card game. There are many to explore! 🥳 PLAY! Playing is a great way to reconnect; bonus if you have some non-seggsual touch involved (taking a shower together, swimming together, having a pillow fight) 🫶 TOUCH PRACTICES: Massage, sensate practice, and more 💫TANTRA PRACTICES: Eye-gazing and deep breathing connects us deeply and can be super powerfully sexy. And there’s one MEGA SUPER important thing to remember … see my last post for the number one rule of these suggestions! 🚩 #consciousrelationships #sexworthhaving #sexcoach #intimacy #mindfulsex
