He can love you and still be emotionally incapable of repairing the relationship. Read that again. Because sometimes we're stuck asking: “Why can't he just understand?” “Why can't he apologize?” “Why does the same thing keep happening?” “Why am I always the one trying to fix us?” Healthy repair requires 5 things: 1. Accountability 2. Emotional regulation 3. Curiosity 4. Discomfort tolerance 5. Growth Without those skills, conflict becomes a cycle: Trigger → defensiveness → shutdown → apology → temporary peace → same behavior. And eventually, YOU become exhausted. Here's the lesson that changed my perspective: You cannot love someone into emotional maturity. You can love them. You can support them. You can communicate clearly.
