2001 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L Cummins 24V Engine: 5.9L Turbocharged Inline 6 Diesel (24V Cummins) Power: 235 HP @ 2,700 RPM Torque: 624 Nm @ 1,600 RPM Redline: 3,200 RPM Fuel System: Bosch VP44 Electronic Rotary Direct Injection Transmission: 4 Speed Automatic (47RE) Drivetrain: Four Wheel Drive (4WD) Weight: 2,800 kg 0–100 km/h: 10.5 sec Top Speed: 160 km/h ——— About the vehicle: The 24-valve 5.9 Cummins represents an important transition point in Dodge diesel history. It retained the heavy-duty cast-iron inline-six architecture and forged-steel crankshaft that made earlier Cummins engines famous, but replaced the old mechanical P-pump system with the electronically controlled Bosch VP44 injection pump and a four-valve-per-cylinder head. Unlike the later 2003+ Cummins engines, this generation still predates common-rail injection, giving it a distinctly more mechanical diesel sound and character. With 624 Nm arriving at only 1,600 RPM, the engine was designed around low-speed pulling power rather than high RPM — one of the reasons these second-generation Cummins trucks remain so popular with diesel enthusiasts today. ——— Which car should be featured next?
