Kurt Cobain Unplugged - a new, small exhibition exploring the story behind Kurt’s rare Martin D-18E guitar, uniquely adapted for his left-handed play. In 2020, it became the most expensive guitar ever sold at auction, bought for over $6 million by Peter Freedman. This exhibition at the Royal College of Music in South Kensington, London opened on 3rd June and runs until mid-November. You can book your 1 hour time-slot to visit online at https://www.rcm.ac.uk and it costs just £5. In addition to the guitar, you can also see the cardigan worn by Kurt during Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged performance in 1993. To my surprise, I found myself deeply moved when I was standing that close to Kurt’s faded, unassuming, yet iconic, cardigan. I felt an unexpected wave of emotion. It was as if the fabric still held echoes of his presence. Something so ordinary but it felt so hauntingly intimate. I do wonder what Kurt would have made of this exhibition. But I’m thankful to have seen, up close, these pieces of rock and roll history, from the voice of a generation. A must-see for die-hard Nirvana fans. #Nirvana #KurtCobain #NirvanaUnplugged #KurtCobainUnplugged
