#FriscoMelt #sandwich #grilledsandwich #recipe #cheese #food #foodtok #fyp Ingredients (makes two sandwiches): -0.5kg lean ground beef -1 sweet onion, sliced -4 slices of sourdough bread -A few slices of white cheddar -A few slices of Gruyere -A few knobs of butter -75mL French dressing -75mL Thousand Island Dressing -A few splashes of Worcestershire sauce Method: 1. Fry one side of all four slices of sourdough bread in a bit of butter over medium heat until nicely browned. Set them aside. 2. Slow cook the onion slices in a few tablespoons of water in a skillet over low heat. Just let them simmer for about ten minutes while covered, then remove the lid, add a smidge more water, and stir them occasionally for another 15 minutes until they start to caramelize. Remove from heat and stir in a knob of butter. Divide the onions in two and spread over the toasted sides of two pieces of the bread. 3. Make the sauce by combining the French dressing, Thousand Island dressing, and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl. Add a bit of salt to taste, if you like. Spread the sauce over the toasted sides of the other two pieces of bread. 4. Divide the beef into four balls, then smash them down into thin patties roughly the size and shape of your bread. Cook them on a pan on high heat for about a minute and a half per side, then remove them all from the pan. 5. Using the same pan, turn the heat to low-medium and layer the cheddar and Gruyère between two of the patties. Remove as soon as the cheese becomes melty. 6. Place the beef and cheese atop the slice of bread covered in onions. Flip the saucy bread over and place it on top. 7. Back on the stove, melt a little more butter over medium heat and grill both sides of the sandwich. 8. Slice and serve immediately.
