And as a trans girl, I’ve seen this up close… That attraction forces them to confront parts of themselves they’ve been taught to repress—their desire, their masculinity, their fear of how others might see them… Society tells them that being attracted to a trans woman threatens their identity, their status, their “straightness.” Instead of questioning those rules, it feels safer to reject us. So they turn attraction into anger, denial, or disgust. It’s not really about us at all—it’s about the conflict inside them, and how much they’ve been taught to fear anything that blurs the lines they were promised were solid.
