Unlike the V8 diesels used by Ford and GM, the Cummins achieves its massive low-end torque with only six cylinders and a 17.2:1 compression ratio. This particular Ram has 144,000 miles, had been sitting for a couple of days and was deliberately left unplugged before being started at –21°C after temperatures had fallen as low as –27°C overnight.
