Nicholas Melnyk of Strasbourg, Saskatchewan, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison by Justice Tim Mitchell at Saskatchewan’s Court of King’s Bench in Regina. Melnyk pleaded guilty to repeatedly sexually abusing a seven-year-old girl between 2018 and 2019 while she was in the care of Melnyk and his partner. The court found that he exploited his position of trust and authority over the child. He was convicted of sexual interference, making child pornography and possessing child pornography. Investigators discovered digital recordings documenting the abuse, along with a larger collection of child sexual abuse material on his devices. The investigation began in 2023 after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported an uploaded video. Saskatchewan’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit traced the activity to Melnyk’s home. The judge reduced an initial 13-year calculation to 10 years under the principle of totality, with the sentence publicly reported on August 17, 2026. #NicholasMelnyk #ChildPredator #ChildStalker #StalkingAwareness #Strasbourg 🔗 https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/child-sexual-abuse-prison-sentence-9.7310165
